I’m always a skeptic of items you see frequently on social media, but I also am always up for trying new items out on the beauty market. I’ve been seeing for months the ads and bloggers speak about the Billie razor. I was again skeptic. I wasn’t sure if this razor was the real deal and after months of contemplating purchasing I pulled the trigger.
I have always used the Intuition razor for it’s convenience. The razor comes with cartridges that are replaced instead of using shaving cream, but the price of it was adding up and I was starting to notice razor burn. Just two of the reason I decided to purchase the Billie razor.
As you’ve probably heard before, the Billie razor starter pack comes with the razor (in the color of your choice) with the razor head on, an additional replacement razor head, the magnetic holder for your razor and sample sized shaving cream and body lotions for you to try them for $9. I chose the DreamPop colored razor. I added the additional body of shaving cream and the travel case and it came out to a total of $22. I was impressed with the cost of it.
The box arrived in the mail in just a few days. Again the skeptic in me said it looks just like a normal drug store razor. I put the razor to the test and (spoiler alert) I was happy with the quality of it.
Pros
I do find that the razor really does a good job of shaving. It leaves a clean shave with no razor burn (yay!). I also really liked the shaving cream as it has aloe vera and shave butter in it, which give it a great smell, but also makes your skin really smooth. This razor is said to keep hair from growing back faster. I do think that my hair grew back slower, but not a significant amount. I would say it gave me an extra day of not having to shave, which is great I will take it, but nothing too crazy. I did feel that it my hair grew back in a lot smoother. I have seen a difference in my skin since using their shaving cream.
I do like that this is a subscription service that you can cancel at any time. Everything comes conveniently to your door in the time period you select. I chose the delivery every two months for my personal needs, but you can select whatever works best for you.
Cons
I really do like this razor. I think it gives a great close shave, but my only complaint if any, would be the magnetic holder. The magnetic holder comes with the starter kit and is a great idea. It sticks to your shower so the razor sits right on it against the wall. The only complaint for me is that the sticky backing that holds it to the shower wall kept coming off. That’s not a big deal as the razor can be stored somewhere else.
I also wished that Billie would have more travel sized options for their lotions and shave cream. This is a great razor to travel with since it’s light and the travel head will keep it clean, but it may be a hassle to travel with the larger bottle of shaving cream. I hope this is something they add in the future because I would love to be able to travel with this razor as well.
Yay or Nay?
Overall, I love this razor. I think it is worth the hype and does a great job giving a close shave. I think that it extends the amount of time you need to shave by about a day, but at least it gives you a little bit more time in between shaving. I think their shaving cream is a must have and I hope that in the future they come out with travel sizes in addition to the travel case to make it even more travel friendly.
