During the winter months here in the North East, it’s hard to catch some sun. Not only is it cold most days, but it’s hard to get some good sun to get a tan. Also, the traditional way of tanning gives you the risk of certain cancers from too much exposure to the sun.
I love a good tan, but I normally opt for self tanner or a spray tan instead of the traditional way of catching rays. I choose products without harsh ingredients and try to keep it as natural as possible. During this time of year, I also try to keep my tan looking natural as possible. I tried the Isle of Paradise drops to see if these would be a good tanning substitute.
The drops come in three different shades, light, medium or dark. I started using them last year solely on my face. I would put 2-3 drops in my moisturizer, depending on the desired color I was looking for, and use that on my face and neck. I choose the medium shade in the drops and really liked the color it gave me. It was not too much, but enough to compliment my fair skin. I would recommend going with the medium shade. It is not too dark.
I just recent started mixing it with my lotion and applying it to my body. Normally, I use the loving tan 2 hour express for a really good self tan. I normally use this for events or trips I’m going on. I wanted more of a glow then a tan, so three times a week I’ve been using these drops and I have seen a nice slight tan!
Pros
These drops will give you a subtle tan and they aren’t as messy as self tanner. They simply get mixed in with lotion or a moisturizer then is applied to either body or face. I like that the drops don’t get blotchy and I’ve never seen any missing spots that have occurred using self tanner. You must use these drops with moisturizer or lotion to get this effect.
I haven’t had a breakout from using these. I have acne prone skin and find that they have not caused me any breakouts from using them. This is just my experience with them. Everyone’s skin types are different, but I always enjoy a product that doesn’t cause havoc to my skin.
I also like that the drops are organic and cruelty free. This is a plus!
Cons
The cons to this product is it does have a slight smell to it like most self tanners. It isn’t an offensive smell, but if you’re sensitive to smells you should know that this will smell when applied. The good news is you apply it with lotion so using a scented lotion will remove the odor. I use the Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Restoring Body Butter from Body Shop and I love it.
Overall
I really like these drops and they’re very easy to apply. I think they give a nice tan, but it also looks natural and not over done. I think these are a great everyday alternative. I’ll continue to add them to my moisturizer and apply. I think I will still stick to a spray tan or my loving tan for bigger events, but these are great options for a daily glow.
If you’re looking to purchase, I have bought them from Sephora. I stocked up the last time I purchased them because they tend to sell out fast on Sephora. Right now QVC is having a great deal on them. You get two bottles for the price of one bottle on Sephora. If you’re looking to try them out this is a great deal to try them.
